My Journey Across the Maldives, Sri Lanka & Malaysia 🌍
It started with a ticket, a small bag, and a simple question: What is waiting for me beyond the next horizon?
Over the past two years, I have crossed borders, boarded planes, travelled across oceans, moved between islands, chased unfamiliar roads, and stepped into places where almost everything felt new.
There were mornings when I woke up surrounded by turquoise water, afternoons spent wandering through streets I had never seen before, and nights when I had no idea what the next day would bring.
I wasn't travelling just to collect passport stamps.
I was travelling to collect stories.
My journey took me across the scattered islands of the Maldives, through the misty mountains and historic cities of Sri Lanka, and across the diverse landscapes and vibrant cities of Malaysia.
More than 30 Maldivian islands. Northern Sri Lanka. Mountain towns. Coastal cities. Busy markets. Quiet villages. Long road journeys. Boats crossing open water. Unexpected encounters. New friendships. And countless moments that could never be recreated in exactly the same way.
Some places amazed me immediately. Others revealed their beauty slowly.
There were moments when the journey itself became the destination — sitting beside a window watching unfamiliar landscapes disappear behind me, standing at an island harbour waiting for the next boat, walking through a new city without knowing exactly where the road would lead, or simply watching the sunset in a place I had only seen before in photographs.
Every border I crossed seemed to open another chapter.
And somewhere along the way, I realised something:
Travel isn't really about how many places you visit. It's about how deeply a place becomes part of your story.
These are the stories of my last two years — from the islands of the Maldives, to the mountains and shores of Sri Lanka, and through the cities and hidden corners of Malaysia.
Three countries. Dozens of destinations. Countless memories. One journey that is still far from over.
🇲🇻 Maldives — Exploring the Islands
The Maldives was one of the most unforgettable parts of my journey. During my travels, I explored more than 30 islands and local communities, each with its own atmosphere, scenery, and way of life.
Some of the places I visited included:
- Maafushi
- Himmafushi
- Hulhumalé
- Malé
- Addu City
- Eydhafushi
- Thulusdhoo
- Dhigurah
- Ukulhas
- Rasdhoo
- Fulidhoo
- Guraidhoo
- Huraa
- Dhiffushi
- Mahibadhoo
- Thinadhoo
- Fuvahmulah
- Kulhudhuffushi
- Hanimaadhoo
- Naifaru
- Villingili
- Maradhoo
- Feydhoo
- Hulhulé
- and many other beautiful islands.
What made the Maldives special for me was seeing more than just the famous beaches. I wanted to experience local island life, travel between islands, see the communities, enjoy the ocean, and understand how people live in this unique island nation.
From the busy streets of Malé to the peaceful islands surrounded by turquoise water, every destination gave me a different memory.
🇱🇰 Sri Lanka — From Mountains to the Ocean
My Sri Lankan journey was another unforgettable chapter.
I travelled through different regions of the country, experiencing both the mountains and the coast.
I visited:
- Kandy
- Nuwara Eliya
- Colombo
- Galle
- Negombo
- Jaffna
- Mannar Island
Kandy gave me a glimpse into Sri Lanka's cultural and historical side, while Nuwara Eliya offered a completely different experience with its cool weather, green hills, and tea-country landscapes.
Colombo showed me the country's modern urban side. In contrast, Galle and its coastal surroundings offered a slower and more relaxed atmosphere.
Travelling north to Jaffna and Mannar was particularly interesting because the landscape, culture, food, and local atmosphere felt different from the southern parts of Sri Lanka.
🇲🇾 Malaysia — Cities, Culture & Adventure
Malaysia became another major chapter of my journey.
I explored:
- Kuala Lumpur
- Bukit Bintang
- Penang
- Perlis
- Malacca (Melaka)
- Johor
- Johor Bahru
- Selangor
- Ipoh
From the energy of Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Bintang to Penang's historic streets, from the northern landscapes of Perlis to the southern regions of Johor, every place offered a different side of Malaysia.
🌏 More Than a Passport Stamp
Looking back, I realise these journeys gave me much more than photographs.
They gave me stories.
Stories from boats and airports. Stories from roads and hotel rooms. Stories from strangers who became friends. Stories from places where I didn't speak the language but still found a way to communicate.
The Maldives taught me the rhythm of island life.
Sri Lanka showed me how dramatically a landscape can change within a single journey.
Malaysia introduced me to a remarkable mix of cultures, food, cities, history, and modern life.
And all three countries reminded me why I keep travelling.
✈️ The Road Continues
I don't know exactly where the next journey will take me.
Maybe another island.
Maybe another country.
Maybe a road I have never travelled before.
But I know one thing:
The next story is already waiting somewhere beyond the horizon.
And I'm ready to go find it.
One flight. One road. One island. One memory at a time.

My journey doesn't end with the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. In the future, Insha’Allah, I hope to visit many more countries, discover new cultures, meet new people, explore unfamiliar places, and create memories that will stay with me for a lifetime.
There are still so many destinations on my map, so many roads waiting to be travelled, and so many stories waiting to be written.
More countries. More adventures. More memories. More stories.
Insha’Allah, this is only the beginning. 🌍✈️
One flight. One road. One island. One memory at a time.
